On an afternoon in springtime decided

To do, not to falter in heart

All granite conviction

Brave and at peace with the ends

On a morning in springtime I waited

For signs and a change in the air

All choices and measures

An auger of what time portends

We parted forever in springtime

One solid and one but a ghost

I wonder what came of that other

And whether we'll meet on the road
