Falling, Fruit, Fate

These years have been

Hungry

Though I have learned to be quiet

Through careful rod and binding

Words

Make flesh

Believe me

Constant cavernous companion kept and

Catastrophic

til I was all teeth

Smile for me

Again

Once more, once more

Forever More

Has all of this falling flying been?

My aching the straining of wings?

Joyously ravenous that I

My lay here in the sun and feast

Savoring the soft and sweet with abandon

That this animal body sings

My hands made to hold and to take

From the boughs this fruit

In sacrament

Anointing lips and redeeming all primal fires

In the beauty and the beating hearts
